My Trip To The Container Store
I had an appointment downtown the other day…that meant I was very close to a few stores that we don’t have out here in the burbs. My favorite stop was The Container Store. I absolutely love that place! They were having a great sale on everything elfa – to the tune of 30% off everything…yipee!! I picked up a few of the Mesh Easy Gliders for some of my cabinets. I put my pots & pans in a big one (now they don’t fall out when open the cupboard door) and I put a giant one in my coat closet for shoes. They have changed my life! They were so easy for Mike to install – it literally took him 15 minutes.
I saw these at the store for under $2. Once I turned 40 my arms got really short (heh-heh) and I have trouble reading small print. One of my girlfriends gave me one of these for Christmas – and I love it.
Magnetic Stickers. These are pretty nifty. You stick them on any surface (they don’t leave any residue) and you have an instant magnetic holder.
SmartGrip Pad – prevents items from slipping, sliding or falling on virtually any surface! The revolutionary material grips the surface it’s on and the items you place on it. Use one on a dashboard, the side of a computer monitor, refrigerator to securely hold a cell phone, keys, sunglasses or MP3 player.
At Home Sales Parties
I love at home sales parties…Scentsy, 31, Pampered Chef, etc. I also love to new at home sales companies popping up with new ideas. Here are a few new ones that I found.
Jamberry Nails - This company started with 3 sisters (love that!) to provide a simple way to brighten your day. They offer Nail Shields in a bajillion different styles and colors. Wouldn’t that be a great girls night out?
Clever Container Company – They are all about organizing, functionality, ideas, and fun! They have fabulous products to help you organize your life. They also provide clever & helpful tips whether you are just getting started on your organizational journey or are already an organizing “junkie.” This looks awesome!! I would love to be invited to one of these get togethers. What could be more fun than drinking wine & getting my life organized at the same time? They have products for every room in your house…even your car.
Awesome. It is like The Container Store right in your own house.
Tanning Parties – Many local companies will come to your house, set up a spray tan booth, and create the perfect tan for all of your guests. Wouldn’t this be an awesome addition to your Bunco group? Just search Tanning Parties and your city. They are all the rage right now.
Do You Bake? – They offer 100% all natural baking and meal mixes. They offer a ton of different mixes – Oatmeal Creme Brulee, Donuts, Chicken & Quinoa to name just a few.

Pajama Jeans For Men.
Why is the mens version of everything cheaper. Their dry cleaning is less expensive, haircuts cost less for them….and even their pajama jeans are waaaay cheaper. Your man can pick up a pair for only $13! There are two styles to pick from – regular or a faux sag with faux boxers peeking out. Lucky ducks.
My Candle is Smarter Than Yours.
I’m sure my new candles are smarter than the ones that you have…in fact, my candles are even called Smart Candle. I’m sure you are wondering what makes my candles so smart.
- First of all, they are flameless (they won’t burn my house down). They use 4 AA batteries that will run the candle for 800 hours. The battery lights up an LED that creates a natural flickering light that perfectly simulates a wax candle flame. It even flickers like a real candle flame. You can’t tell the difference between the light of my Smart Candle and a real lit up candle flame.
- My Smart Candle has a 3-stage timer. The timer can adjust to 4, 6 or 8 hours. You turn it on, at let’s say 5:00 and then it will run for the allotted time that you picked. Then it will remember that you turned them on at 5:00 the day before and it will turn on at that same time and then run the allotted time and so on. So after using it only one time, it knows to turn on the next day, and the next day, and…well you get it, right?
- My Smart Candle has a remote control! Isn’t that cool? I can turn on the candles from the comfort of my sofa.
- I’m sure you are thinking that your candles probably smell better than mine, right? Wrong! Smart Candles come in Vanilla Scent, Sweetened Biscotti Scent, or unscented. They also offer flameless jar candles in 6 different scents.
- Each candle is made out of real wax – they look exactly like a regular candle.
I absolutely love my Smart Candles. I really do! It is so nice to have the ambiance & smell of candles burning without the worry of a real flame burning. I love the fact that when I walk in the door in the evening my candles are already flickering away. It just seems kind of fancy 
They are so easy to use, no crazy programming involved. Just pop in the batteries, turn it on to timer, pick how many hours you want it to glow…and that is it. It will come on everyday at the same time. The smartest candle that I have ever seen. In fact, I think it might have a brain.
The candles I received are commercial grade (very high quality). Many restaurants, hotels, cruise lines, and churches use them, but anyone can buy them for themselves right on their website. They also have wax pillars with timers that are more of a retail version and are sold in the Bon-Ton Stores: Herberger’s, Carson’s, Boston Store, Bergner’s, Younkers, Elder-Beerman. These are also on their website and on Amazon.com. They will soon be on Target.com and in some of their test stores.

Mission Impossible – IMAX
What is better than watching Tom Cruise in an action packed Mission Impossible movie? Watching Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol at an IMAX theater! I love IMAX movies but have never seen a blockbuster movie at an IMAX theater. It was awesome! Not only was the screen gigantic but the visuals were amazing. This movie did not disappoint – I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. This is the way to watch an action movie…IMAX. You feel like you are right there with Tom Cruise, especially when he was climbing a building in India – it was breathtaking. There is about 30 of scenes that were shot with an IMAX camera – they are incredible. Check out the trailer here.
Double Duty
How often do you end up having a hair elastic on your wrist? It is a handy spot to make sure you have one handy…but it certainly isn’t a fashion statement either. Goody now has some elastic hair bands that actually look great on your wrist too. You can pick them up at Target for under 5 bucks.

For The Man Cave
My girlfriends and myself have moved into Mike’s man cave this Winter. We sit at the table and play Sorry (and gossip a little too). We have been slowly sprucing up the man cave and even decked it out for Christmas this year! I would love to have some candles burning – but I know Mike would put his foot down if I moved my “fresh cotton” candle down there. Soooo….I found some manly candles with manly smells. Now, which one should I pick? They are under $10 each…maybe I will get 2.
Campfire…Mike would love that one!

Bacon? Would it make me hungry?
