The texture is what really makes if for me. It is so creamy and smooth. It feels like I am eating something luxurious and expensive. Riley and I like to set it out on the counter for about 5 minutes before we eat it – this takes the texture to another level!

I was in the Bass store the other day with Maddie and she was immediately drawn to the Penny Loafers. I proceeded to go on and on about my Bass Penny Loafers that I used to wear back in the 80′s. She thought it was cool that I actually kept a dime in each loafer instead of a penny. This way I always had 20 cents handy to make a call at a pay phone. I think she was more fascinated that I actually used pay phones.
Anyway….have you seen the new Penny Loafers? They are amazing!! You can pretty much get them in any color and even some really great patterns. OH MY GOSH!!
Riley and I downloaded a new App to make our runs a little more exciting. The Zombies, Run app really makes running an adventure! You open the app, pop in your headphones and let the games begin.
They talk to you while you are running. Sending you on missions and warning you when the zombies are on your trail! When the zombies get close to you they tell you to RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!!! You collect virtual items along your route and then use them to build your virtual city. It really makes my runs go by so fast.
I was so excited to try the new Heat-N-Go mini waffles and pancakes from Pillsbury! But do you know who was more excited? My kids! Actually these perfect for my oldest that is away at UGA. I stocked her mini freezer with about 5 packages of these…for the days that she wakes up late and can’t make it to the dining hall.
Not only are they delicious…they are so fast and easy to make! Just microwave them for 45 seconds and then run out the door. No syrup needed, its baked right in them! You can eat them on the go right out of the bag that you cook them in. What a genius idea!

The Fast Diet. I purchased the book and was hooked!
I have been working my butt off to try to get rid of 5 annoying lbs that seem to have taken residence in right smack dab in the middle of my body. I have been working out like crazy and “watching” what I eat. My middle aged body was saying “no way are you losing this weight”!
I was drawn to the Fast Diet because of how easy it is to follow. You pick two days of the week to fast (by fast, they mean to eat 500 calories if you are a woman and 600 for a man). The rest of the week you just eat normal. I usually fast on Monday & Thursday, but often change my days according to the week ahead of me. On my fast days I eat a 100ish calorie breakfast, have a few low calorie snacks (carrots, babybell cheese, etc), and have a 300 calorie dinner. It really isn’t as hard as it sounds and if you pick the right foods you never feel like you are starving.
The proof is in the pudding (or lack of pudding)! I started this diet with a group of friends & family. After the first day of fasting one was down 7 lbs, one was down 1.8 lbs, one was down 2.4 lbs and one didn’t lose any weight. I’m three weeks in and I have lost over 4 lbs and it is staying off. This diet is perfect for me because it attacks the fat on your body (aka my muffin top).
I actually look forward to my “fast days” now. They end up being really productive days for me. I think it is because I’m not distracted with what to eat, if I’m hungry, or thinking at all about food. I plan my meals out the day before and just eat what I have set aside. Believe it or not, I can even work out on my fast days.

Have you heard that former Dixie Chicks talented sisters, Emily Robinson and Martie Maquire have a new CD out? The sisters have moved beyond country into a world of their own.
In their new CD titled Amelita you will find yourself delighted with songs that are personal yet familiar and widely relatable. It stretches from bluegrass to pop and hits everything in between. These girls can not only sing, they are talented musicians with a wide range of abilities from banjo, fiddle and guitar.
I immediately found myself quickly sing along to to the first track titled Sunshine. I thought it would for sure be my favorite…but soon I was finding more and more songs that I loved. Rock All Night is another song that I just can’t get enough of. The harmonies and lyrics will reel you in on every track. It’s the kind of CD that you want to pop into your car and sing your heart out while forgetting about the traffic ahead.

While out dorm supply shopping for Maddie a few weeks ago we stumbled across Method Dryer Activated Fabric Softener. This stuff is fantastic! You just spritz it a few times in your dryer before you run a load of clothes. It smells great and really works! This was a HUGE find for me because my husband doesn’t allow us to use dryer sheets in our dryer (he says it ruins the dryer).
Remember when I wrote about my FitBit Flex here? Yesterday I received an email from FitBit telling me that I had walked/ran 250 miles. It cracked me up because it made me feel a little bit like Forest Gump. Then I started thinking about where I would be right now if I just started walking….and continued to walk…..

I love using my outdoor grill during the Summer. Especially because it helps keep my house cool when it is so hot outside! Every Friday night is pizza night at the KatyShops household…and in the Summer that means grilled pizzas.

I like to keep rolls of Pillsbury Pizza Crusts on hand for our grilling adventures. They are so easy to use and taste awesome! Just pop open the can, put it on the grill and load it with your favorite toppings. Last week we made a zucchini, garlic, lemon and Parmesan pizza on our grill with the Pillsbury thin crust. It was soooo good!
