TV Dinner – Healthy Choice Top Chef Inspired

No, I’m not talking about the TV dinners in the aluminum pan that were such a treat when you were little.  I’m talking about the new Healthy Choice Top Chef Inspired Cafe Steamers.  Have you seen these in your grocery store?  I was super excited when I saw them – Top Chef is one of my favorite reality shows!  Now I can have fancy Top Chef meals while eating lunch at work.  They use bold, modern and exciting flavors to give you exactly what you want – food that is both healthy and delicious. They use a unique  steaming technology that separates the sauce from the rest of the entrée to steam the meal in the microwave, allowing for crisp vegetables, tender meats and al dente pastas.  It really doesn’t taste like a frozen meal at all!

They come in many different flavor options:

  • Barbeque Seasoned Steak with Red Potatoes

  • Chicken Fresca with Chardonnay
  • Chicken Linguini with Red Pepper Alfredo
  • Chicken Margherita with Balsamic (my favorite!)
  • Grilled Chicken Marinara with Parmesan
  • Grilled Chicken Pesto with Vegetables
  • Grilled Vegetables Mediterranean with Rice
  • Roasted Chicken Marsala with Mushrooms

You can get a coupon here for $1 off and try them for yourself.  You can read all about the partnership between Bravo TV and Healthy Choice on the Bravo TV website.

If you want to feel like Padma Lakshmi or Tom Colicchio and eat like a Top Chef Judge…visit your grocery store and judge away!

Also, don’t forget to follow Healthy Choice on Twitter and like Healthy Choice on Facebook to be one of the first to know about new meals, products and coupons!

I wrote this review while participating in a campaign from The Motherhood and received product, a product coupon and compensation to thank me for taking the time to participate. This opinion is 100% my own.

Speculoos

Did you watch the Season Finale of Top Chef Desserts last week?  If you did, you might have learned a new word – speculoos.  Exactly what is it?  A caramel ginger spread made from ground Belgian cookies(Biscoff – the kind that you get on the airplane) and it is yummy!  Lucky for me, my sister lives in Belgium…I felt like a smarty pants when I knew what speculoos was and Johnny Iuzzini didn’t!  (Don’t worry Johnny, I still think you are the hottest pastry chef on the planet!)  One of the finalists made his own homemade speculoos for his final dessert – but I’m no Top Chef.  I buy my speculoos :)   You can find it at Whole Foods, Ingles, Cost Plus World Market, and other locations.  Many people use it as a substitute for peanut butter.  Why don’t you give it a try?

My New Addiction

The girls and I headed to Trader Joe’s this weekend to pick up a few of our favorite things.  We love the Orange Chicken!  While I was standing in the check out line I decided that I had to have some chocolate covered almonds.  I sent Riley out on a mission to grab me some while I waited in line.  She returned with this treasure box of Sea Salt & Turbinado Sugar Dark Chocolate Almonds.  OMG.  They are roasted almonds drenched in dark chocolate and sprinkled with sea salt and turbinado sugar.  So good.  I die.  They are sweet & salty at the same time.  Crunchy & smooth at the same time.  Holy cow…the best almond that I have ever tasted. No lie.

Great Deal…Today Only

Living Social is offering a $20 voucher to Whole Foods for only $10 today.  This is a great deal on amazing groceries, but an even better deal if you are looking to buy a pair of TOM’s shoes.  They sell them there!  So you could essentially get $10 off a pair of TOM’s :)

Spinning Hot Dogs.

I am always mesmerized by the spinning hot dogs in the convenience stores.  How come only the gas stations are smart enough to spin the dogs for even cooking?  I never get my grilled dogs even on all sides.  I have often contemplated the idea of square hot dogs – that’s a good idea, right?  Fear no more Crate&Barrel has come to the rescue!  This nifty device allows you to roll your dogs the way your gas station does insuring evenly cooked hot dogs or sausages!

Sweet Goodbye…

We are up super early today (to the tune of 4 a.m!) ….my girls are headed to New York City to spend time with their Aunt & Uncle in Manhattan.  I am so jealous and will miss them terribly.  I wanted to give them something special to eat before they are wined and dined in the big apple.  Last week I picked up a few boxes of Trader Joe’s Chocolate Croissants that I decided  throw in the oven.  They are like little dough rectangles that you put on a cookie sheet to rise overnight.  When I woke up this morning they were huge!

After 20 minutes in the oven I enjoyed the best chocolate croissant the I have ever had.  No lie.  It was amazing!  Seriously, they were flaky, buttery, and tasted like pastry from a little bistro.  What a great little find for $4 for a box of 4.  If you find yourself at Trader Joe’s, pick yourself up a box (or 2)….you won’t be disappointed.

Now…what to do with myself for 6 days without my girls?  sigh.

A little lemon with your water?

I don’t drink Diet Coke anymore & I don’t like sweet tea.  That leaves me with two options….beer or water.  It isn’t practical to drink beer all day and water can get a little boring.  I like to infuse my water with different fruits – lemon, lime, watermelon and even cucumbers.  For $6.74 this little number keeps my water pulp & seed free.

Great Idea…

Is this not the best idea EVER??  You make different skewers of meats & veggies and then everyone can pick what they want?  Your dining guests will be happy and the meat/veggies will cook perfectly.  Genius.
