Give Away…Zippity Doo’s.

Spring.  Can’t wait.  This is one of my favorite times of year.  But, what I didn’t know is that Spring is the prime season for kids to get head lice.  Ewww!  Is there anything worse than imagining bugs crawling on your child’s head?  Plus the intense de-licing that has to go on in your house.  Really bad. You have to be very careful if your children are sharing hats at baseball (the batters helmet), tumbling on a mat at a gym, or worse…jumping at one of those bounce houses!

Zippity Doo’s is a product that actually PREVENTS head lice.  That’s right, instead of treating it you can prevent it by using the Zippity Doo’s product line.  The products are made for children and are gentle enough to use everyday.  They smell wonderful – why wouldn’t they with ingredients like rosemary, lavender, sage & lemongrass. I wish you could smell them, they smell like my favorite spa!   The products not only repel lice, they repel other bugs as well.  I wonder if they work on mosquitoes?

There are 5 products in the line.  Shampoo, Conditioner, Styling Gel, Shield Spray (which can even be used on other areas like couches & sleeping bags), and Leave-in Detangler.  Zippity Doo’s and BSM Media have given me a set of the entire line to give away to one of you!  That’s right…one of each product in the line!  We all know someone or have personally been infested with head lice.  To enter to win tell me if you have had lice take over your house or head (or your child’s head).  I would love to know how many this has happened to.  I will randomly pick a number on Sunday (March 14th) as our winner.

These products were supplied to me by Zippity Doo’s via BSM Media, as are the products for the giveaway.  I have expressed my opinion and have not been paid to give you my thoughts.

March 12, 2010. give away.

Never had head lice here (knock on wood) but I’ve heard horror stories about getting rid of it! I still remember the school nurse coming onto the classroom and doing head checks with a pencil…gross!

OHHH 2 years ago my daughter the youngest of 4 was not so lucky as my 3 boys…somewhere she picked it up…LONG, THICK, CURLY, BLONDE HAIR…..if I can tell you WHAT A NIGHTMARE!! The first round we sat her on plastic and with a work lamp examined each strand….so we thought! After lice shampoo after lice shampoo….they returned 10 days later! This time we covered her head in mayo with a bathing cap and wouldn’t let her take it off for 24 hours…this did the trick, but she kinda smelled!!
Would LOVE TO HAVE THIS PRODUCT!!

Lice was big when I was growing up and I remember having to have my head washed out with this NASTY smelling, burning shampoo and then my mom had to pick out lice with a little comb. GROSS! How did our mom’s survive back in the day?

I have not had it, but I have heard horror stories. My son has really short hair, but I have an insane fear of head lice. I have a friend who I’m going to refer to your blog for this very give away. If I DO win, I’m going to give her the product.

I had it in elementary school years ago. So far, we have never had it at my house with my three girls. But we have friends that have had a wicked case at their house! So hard to get rid of. What a great product! Prevention is always better than trying to get rid of it.

  6. Melissa replied:

Haven’t had it personally but have seen lots of kids with it. It really makes me itch all over just thinking about lice. I am part of a mothers group that could definitely benefit from Zippity Doo’s.

  7. Chris replied:

I remember having lice as a kid with my brothers all at the same time. What a mess. I would love to have these products to avoid this nightmare. With a full week of baseball next week these would come in handy now.

My neice came to the house to spend the weekend – and she brought friends – that she shared!! Just reading the article is making my head itch…My daughter’s best friend has been infested three times so I’m just waiting until my daughter gets infested too. Girls – they always have their heads together working on stuff. I know it’s just a matter of time…..

Oh years ago we found head lice on my youngest daughter on Christmas Eve as we were getting ready for church. What a lovely Christmas gift that was!

  10. Kristi replied:

My daughter brought them home from school. We could not get rid of it. We finally had to get an expensive cream from the Doctor to get rid of it. UGH It was awful.

  11. Louise replied:

I remember getting lice when I was younger, in elementary school. About half of my class all got sent home one day for having lice. I hated it, especially having to use whatever that special shampoo was. It smelled horrible, and the metal comb, I hated that too. I would love to have something that would prevent my 4 girls from getting lice.

gotta say never had head lice but remember being poked with toothpicks in school by the MEAN nurse we had!!!!

    YUCK!!!

  13. Mimi @ The Things We do replied:

Thankfully, we’ve not had lice (yet). But my sister’s daughter had it and it took forever to get rid of. Then she got it again a week later!

  14. Melissa replied:

Oh yes my 5yr old has had it! What a nightmare!!! She has such long hair and trying to comb that out w/that little comb is such a pain!!! And of course 10dys later she got it again!

Lice finally struck our house in January after 5 years of elementary school and let me tell you, disgusting and exhausting! My 10 year old son was mortified and apologetic…I kept saying it wasn’t his fault. Our water bill went up like $30 from washing everything in sight, clothes, towels, bedding, coats and on and on. The combing was the worst even though he had short hair..I felt like a gorilla grooming her baby each night! We even tried the mayo on the head with a shower cap as a preventative…he complained that he “smelled like burning onions”! Luckily and amazingly, nobody else in the house got it but I will be forver paranoid now! I’ve heard that tea tree oil is a preventative but it smells horrible!!! These products sound like a much better alternative :)
