If you can’t beat them…

…join them!  I was just talking to a friend of mine the other day.  I was telling her how I don’t think my kids do enough chores around the house.  Usually it just seems easier to do it myself.  Especially if they are at school late or on the computer doing homework.  I guess you could say I let them be lazy because I am to lazy to give them chores everyday.  I found a new site called My Job Chart.  It is an electronic chore chart.  And lets face it…kids are so into everything electronic these days – iPods, iTouch, computers, cell phones, DSD…and on & on.  You simply type in your chore list for each child.  They log on and to see what their job list is.  They earn points for their completed chores that are redeemed for rewards that you set up.    How cool is that?  It also let you know electronically when the chore is completed.  I love it because when I see the need for a chore to be done (like a sink full of dirty dishes) I don’t have to go find my kids and interrupt what they are doing (hopefully homework). I think kids are so computer savvy, that this is just the high tech method we needed to keep up with our techie kids.   I mean face it, we are all busy…including our kids.  This still lets them be responsible for their chores without my constant nagging.  This service is completely free to use – so why not give it a try?  I am.

Here is how they sum up the program:

My Job Chart is a free online chore chart for kids.  It allows parents to determine what chores are assigned to their children.  As kids do these chores they earn points.   These points accumulate and are then used to redeem rewards in the child’s own personalized reward store.  Through patent pending technology MJC sends either a text or email to parents each time jobs are completed or rewards are redeemed.
