Thanksgiving update…

I spent last week in Eagles Mere, PA with my husband’s side of the family. It really was the perfect Thanksgiving…great food, no family drama, and we even had the perfect snowfall.  What a relaxing way to spend the holiday!   We had such a great time in this picturesque little town.  Originally the town was developed in the 1800′s as a resort town for wealthy Philadelphians – it is filled with gorgeous old homes & quaint little churches.  The main features of the town is a beautiful lake and a cute little downtown.  By little, I mean a handful of great specialty  shops.  My sister-in-law happens to own a store in Eagles Mere called PURE.  You would love it!  She has searched out the latest & greatest and offers some amazing and unique products.  Here are a few of my favorites….

  • Got All Your Marbles? – Interchangeable marble  jewelry.  Super cool.  You change out the jewelry piece by switching the marble.  You can have your marble match your outfit…or even your mood.  Each piece comes with a bag of marbles to get you started.  They have rings, pendants, and earrings. The company is a family owned business – which I love.

  • Fiddlers Elbow Doorstop – How could I not love this little Winnie doorstop.  Of course they have other breeds if you wish.
  • Wagging Green Bamboo pet products -  the coolest collars for your pet all made with super soft bamboo fibers.  A portion of the proceeds goes to conservation charities.  The ID tags are great too, they will even engrave the back for free.

She has soooo much more…my brain is still fuzzy from the long drive home.  Don’t forget that today is Cyber Monday.  I will update with any great finds!

Keep them busy.

When looking for Christmas gifts for little guys it is important to get them something that will keep them busy!  Have your little guys ever played with K’NEX?  Seriously, one box of these will provide hours of creativity, self confidence, and hours of endless building & playing.  For $20.99 you can pick up a 400 piece tub!  Not only does the tub provide a convenient storage solution – it will build over 20 different 2-D and 3-D models.  The best part about this toy is that each time they use it, is different…they won’t get tired of it after just one use.  I love how some of the pieces actually move – wheels that turn, propellers that spin…even a merry-go-round that runs!  Guess what?  They even work with Legos – awesome!  When they are all done building they can throw them right back into the tub.  Easy!  If your little guys already build with K’NEX, they should enter the contest.  Right now K’NEX in running a K’NEXion Video contest until December 7th.  You can see the details of the contest here.  The grand prize for the best overall video will receive $1,000 of K’NEX products!

I got that Boom Boom Pow.

That chicken’s jackin’ my style.  I love that song!  I also love the idea behind the Boom Boom cards.  They are an intentional  act of kindness kit.  Kinda like a hip new version of “pay it forward”.  Here is how they describe their cards…

There are 26 cards in a kit, each one is an invitation to join the Boom Boom! Revolution, a small but growing army of people who are sure that we can re-vision the world we know and create the world we want through simple actions that allow us to reach out and exercise the innate altruism that lives in all of us.

It’s an experiment, really. It’s never been done before.

Well…what are they?  Are you confused?

Boom Boom Cards are beautifully designed pieces of art that have individual acts of kindness written on them. You register your deck, do the acts of kindness on each card, give the card away and then write about your experience on the website. You can also upload photos and video to help tell your story. Then you can follow your card and see where your small act of kindness goes using the website’s mapping feature.

So, you take your cards and Boom Boom people.  That’s right…give them out.  You can track the acts of kindness on their web site.  What a great gift this would make…especially for a teen.  Just think…your gift could change the world!

For him.

I always here people saying that they don’t know what to get the men in their life for Christmas.  Brothers, husbands, fathers…all of them are hard to shop for.  Here are a few ideas.

  • Burton Vice Mitt – kind of pricey ($70).  But really cool.  Not only is it a super great glove…the Vice Mitt also sports a zip-out beverage koozie in the right palm, keeping your hand warm and dry while your drink stays cold and wet, and a stash pocket for anything else you may need with that cold beverage.

Burton Vice Mitt

  • Mo-tool -  Need I say more?($40).  I’m sure they don’t already have this.

  • A great T-shirt.  I love J. Newbury.  ($30).  Made out of vintage materials.

Tried it?

Have you ever used a Turkey Roaster to cook your Thanksgiving bird?  I have not…but it totally makes sense.  Especially down South.  Nothing like having your oven running for 5 hours in 80 degree weather!  Right now you can get a 10-lb. Butterball Turkey and an 18-quartTurkey Roaster for just $18.80 at Target this week.  When you buy the 18-qt. Rival Roaster pictured in the ad along with a 10-lb. or more turkey you will receive a $15 Target giftcard.  Use this $2/1 Butterball Turkey printable coupon to make this deal a real saver.  The Roaster will set you back $27, the Turkey $8.80 – after the coupon & the giftcard your total paid will be $18.80.  Sweet!

I do.

Do you live with someone who likes to come home and dump everything from their pockets on the kitchen counter.  I do.  I love this little contraption.  It holds your keys, gum, zip drives…etc.  But the change falls through into a little bank.  Cool!  Maybe I could not tell him that the coins get collected and have my own secret stash of Diet Coke change.  Yay!!  Not bad for only $32.

cool
