Kits.

My girls always loved getting “kits” for gifts.  Cooking kits, makeup kits, art kits.   Really just any kind of kit.  Recently I was sent the Magnificent Manicure Kit to review.  The first thing that I noticed about the box was a little red banner in the upper left corner that said “Scientific Explorer”.  Really?  Doing your nails is considered a science?  It is with this kit!  Your kids will actually learn about cosmetic chemistry while enjoying a fabulous manicure.  They will create their own custom scented lotions and masks too.  I bet they won’t even know that they are learning.  Scientific Explorer partnered with UC Berkeley’s Great Exploration in Math and Science program to create super fun educational kits for kids.  This kit actually won Creative Child Magazine’s 2009 Toy of the Year Award in the Educational Toys category!  Another bonus….my girls did a spa treatment on me!  This is a total win-win.  Kids learn, I get pampered.  You can find the kits at Toys R Us.

Genius!

I love hanging plates on the wall.  I have plates for every season and plates that I just love to look at.  I used to use the ugly brass clamps that grab your plate (after you stretch the springs on the back).  Not any more.  I found adhesive disc plate hangers.  They rock!  You simply wet the adhesive on the back of the disc and stick it to the back of the plate…then hang it.  Easy.  When you want to remove the disc hanger you just soak the plate in warm water.  You can hang pretty much anything with a disc hanger…trays, platters, spoons, baskets, and more.  They start at $1.75 – very affordable!
