Five For Fighting – Giveaway
This is good great! One of you lucky, lucky viewers will get an autographed copy of the new Five For Fighting CD Slice!!! Seriously, this is an awesome CD. You all know Five For Fighting for the song 100 years. I love that song. The new CD can be summed up by this quote
“The album takes stories of friends, family and even American servicemen, and sets them to music shot through with the spirit of the great songs of his youth. It’s a diary, or a blog, in which Ondrasik speaks his mind about current issues, experiences and sentiments, while setting those thoughts to piano, bass and drums.”
It really does take you to so many different places. Everyone in your house will love this music – no matter what their musical tastes are. It really suits us all. I can’t even begin to tell you which tracks are my favorites – I think they all are. Trust me, you will love it!
So? How can you win your very own Slice? Comment on this post by Saturday at Midnight and I will randomly pick a comment to win (using random number generator). What are some of your favorite songs – you know the ones you never get sick of?
Special thanks goes to One2One Network who sent me Slice for this campaign.

Yum. Bacon.
I have this weird fascination with bacon. In fact, when I am out running with my girlfriends I actually crave bacon during my runs. It really grosses them out when I start talking about bacon in the middle of a half marathon! With this cold snap I am craving bacon even more! Here are a few creative bacon ideas…
Bacon Jam. Oh my! Can you even imagine this on a burger? It is bacon rendered down with onions & a bunch of spices. $17.
Baconnaise. Sounds good to me. Spreadable bacon. Clever & delicious at the same time.
Bacon Salt. We use this when we are out of bacon(gasp!) – just sprinkle some in your eggs and you forget that you actually ran out of bacon.
Bacon Jelly Beans? I don’t know about this one…but I could eat them while out on a run
For now I will pray to Saint Anthony (The Patron Saint of Bacon) that my bacon supply will always be plentiful.
Really?
I received a bottle of Aveeno NOURISH + Hair Care Collection from BzzAgent to test out their shampoo and conditioner and share the results with my friends. I have extremely fine thin hair and was pretty skeptical that a different shampoo & conditioner could actually make a difference. I was testing out the Nourish + Volumize which is supposed to make your hair thicker after only two washes. Like a good little BzzAgent steward that I am, I put the two bottles in my shower a few weeks back and started using them – never really giving it a second thought. Last night I went to my regular hairdresser to get a hair cut (which is mighty cute – had some bangs thrown in) and she tells me that my hair seems thicker than usual. Forgetting that I have been using the new Aveeno shampoo I tell her that it is probably because I have a few more gray hairs and that they are thick little buggers. She laughed and told me that I didn’t have any extra gray hair. She keeps cutting away. All of a sudden I remembered that I was using a thickening shampoo! I told her what I was using and asked if it really could have worked? She told me that in fact, the right shampoo can make a difference – but usually they are pricey salon bottles. Not my Aveeno, I can buy it at my grocery store! It really works. Unbelievable! You can request a sample of your own to try out here.
Small & Mighty
When I posted about the plate hanger a few days ago, a reader let me know about another great product for hanging things on the wall. Mighties Magnets are these teeny tiny little magnets that you can use just about anywhere to hang up your child’s artwork – or your to do list. You simply find a nail that is already in the wall (or you can use a small metal thumbtack) and they will hold posters, pictures, and even your to do list up with their super strong magnetic force. What a great idea! A package of eight will set you back $8.

Kits.
My girls always loved getting “kits” for gifts. Cooking kits, makeup kits, art kits. Really just any kind of kit. Recently I was sent the Magnificent Manicure Kit to review. The first thing that I noticed about the box was a little red banner in the upper left corner that said “Scientific Explorer”. Really? Doing your nails is considered a science? It is with this kit! Your kids will actually learn about cosmetic chemistry while enjoying a fabulous manicure. They will create their own custom scented lotions and masks too. I bet they won’t even know that they are learning. Scientific Explorer partnered with UC Berkeley’s Great Exploration in Math and Science program to create super fun educational kits for kids. This kit actually won Creative Child Magazine’s 2009 Toy of the Year Award in the Educational Toys category! Another bonus….my girls did a spa treatment on me! This is a total win-win. Kids learn, I get pampered. You can find the kits at Toys R Us.
Genius!
I love hanging plates on the wall. I have plates for every season and plates that I just love to look at. I used to use the ugly brass clamps that grab your plate (after you stretch the springs on the back). Not any more. I found adhesive disc plate hangers. They rock! You simply wet the adhesive on the back of the disc and stick it to the back of the plate…then hang it. Easy. When you want to remove the disc hanger you just soak the plate in warm water. You can hang pretty much anything with a disc hanger…trays, platters, spoons, baskets, and more. They start at $1.75 – very affordable!
