Does it come with instructions?

Have you seen those dresses that you can wear 100 different ways?  Very cool…only I can only figure out about half of the ways that you are supposed to wear it.  Even if I can only figure out 50 ways to wear my dress, I call that a bonus.  One dress and lots of different looks…thanks designers for making our life a little easier!  Here are a few…

Kariza Designs make really cool convertible dresses and wraps out of vintage fabric.  And yes, they do come with instructions.  They are double layered silk wrapped skirts.  They can even be worn as a top.  They actually call it the “magic skirt”. They come in a bunch of cool vintage fabrics.   You can view a video of the pieces here.  Take a look at the instructions.

Victoria’s Secret is in on the action.  Take a look at their 7-in-1 dress combo.  It comes in a ton of colors.

magicThis little number can be worn 7 different ways…for only $48.  That comes out to $6.86 each way.  Lunch costs more than that.  One of these in black would be awesome to throw in a suitcase for a trip!

What I like right now…to eat.

I have tried a few fairly new things to eat lately…and found some favorites!  I am in love with Chobani 0% Greek Yougurt.  My favorite flavor is the Blueberry.  This stuff is super thick and ultra creamy.  It is so thick that you could probably turn the container upside down and none of it would fall out!  How can something that creamy be fat free?  Did you know that Greek yougurt has more muscle building proteins than regular yogurt?  They carry this at my Publix….look for it at your grocery store.

goodMy new favorite Tortilla Chip are the Margaritaville Sea Salt Chips.  Yum!  The perfect amount of salt and the right amount of crunch.  I found mine at Whole Foods.

goodI love every flavor of granola from Back To Nature…but I really, really love the Bar Harbor Blend.  Why wouldn’t I?  It has dark chocolate covered almonds and cranberries in it.  Total heaven.

goodHave you tried the new SmartFood products by Frito Lay?  They are really good!  I’m glad that they come in single serve bags…I would never stop at one serving with a whole bag in front of me.  Each bag gives you 20% of your day’s calcium.  The Peanut Butter Apple Popcorn Clusters are super yummy.

Warm Fuzzies.

Have you or your kids ever been in a classroom where they collect “warm fuzzies”?  It is basically a jar that the teacher fills with pom pom balls each time she catches a student doing something good.  When the jar is filled the class receives a reward.  Usually a ice cream party or special movie to watch.  We call it the Warm Fuzzy Jar.  Yesterday I learned that there are no “warm fuzzies” in High School.  It is hard core!  I know they are big now…but they treat them like they are in college.  Of course I realize that the days of warm fuzzy jars are over….I just thought that life was full of warm fuzzy moments.  Maybe it will come…and I will be waiting.  For now, I will have to find my own warm fuzzies on the internet…

I could knit up a few warm fuzzies

warmI love slippers!  Alpaca Fur would definitely be both warm & fuzzy.

warmYou can even read about warm fuzzies.

warmIf you are looking to make your own Warm Fuzzy jar, I suggest using this vintage Mason jar.  It even says “Mom’s Mason Jar” on it.

Just remember that we are never to old to celebrate life’s warm fuzzy moments.  How full would your own jar be?

Back to School.

Today is the big day!  Now that my girls are out of elementary school they have a little bit of a hike to get to the bus stop.  We actually live the farthest that you can be from the stop in our neighborhood.  Gone are the days of walking two houses up….now it is a third of a mile.  Not awful.  But different.  I wish that backpacks were still considered “cool” for girls.  They make so much sense!  They are easy to carry, hold a ton, and nothing will fall out of them.  Not for my girls…they have to have cute little tote bags from Abercrombie, Vera Bradlely, or anywhere else expensive.  The next best backpack alternative is a messenger bag.  Here are a few cute ones…

At Timbuk2 you can design your own messenger bag.  These bags are made really well.

bagR.E.Load Bags  has a huge selection of messenger bags.  Tons of sizes & colors to pick from.

bagLooking for a super hip bag?  Go Crumpler!  Even their website is super hip…(oh…and please takeout the 6 pack before you give the bag to your kids)

bagMy personal messenger bag of choice?  My Tom Bihn bag.  I love it.

bagSo now I wait anxiously for the bus to arrive home (only I won’t know it, cause it doesn’t come by my house anymore), for the girls to come down the hill and tell me that everything was great.  Fingers crossed for a super day!

Back to School.

Some of us are “school year moms” and some of us are “Summer moms”.  I am a Summer mom.  I dread sending the girls back to school.  I love having them home with me in the Summer – I always have someone to eat lunch with, workout with, and hang with.  We shop, watch TIVO, and of course I drive them and their friends all over creation.  I love it!  I will truly miss them.  It is especially hard because my oldest starts High School and my youngest starts Middle School.  So today we go to their new schools to meet their teachers and get their schedules – a hard day for a “Summer Mom” like me.

Here is a great deal on a little computer.  Only $179.99 with free shipping.  Maybe the start of a school year would be better with a great little gadget tucked into their book bag.

Rock of Ages!

I love it when my girls get into things that I used to like.  I am a child of the 80′s through & through and I have a huge love for Broadway.  Lucky for me, Rock of Ages has brought 80′s metal music to the stage (staring Constantine Maroulis from American Idol).  I received the CD from One2One Network and was instantly in awe of the tracklist.  We’re talking Sister Christian, Wanted Dead or Alive, The Final Countdown, Every Rose Has Its Thorn, and more.  Rock on!  It gets better…because it is a Broadway musical soundtrack it is so entertaining.  It reminds me of listening to a Glee Club performance (which I happen to looove).  The best part?  My girls totally love it!  My teenager has even introduced it to friends :)   They have hijacked my CD and I am constantly hearing my old favorites booming out of their room. It really is great music.  In fact, they have been nominated 5 times for a Tony Award.  Now we want to go see the show…might be time to go visit our NYC relatives….

Frame it.

Do you have those boring unframed builder grade mirrors in your bathroom?  You would be surprised at how amazing they can look if you frame them.  We framed ours years ago…the DIY way.  A miter box, lots of measuring, etc.  I found a company called Mirror Mate that sells frame kits that you simply stick right on your mirror.  How easy does that sound?  You don’t need any tools to put them up….just open the box, peel & stick.  They have over 35 styles to choose from. Check out this before and after…
