I know, today is Fit Friday. I have been following my half marathon training program to the letter (or should I say number?). I can tell that it is working and that I am getting stronger and faster. If you would like to train for a race or just shoot for a goal, I highly recommend the SmartCoach personalized training program. It is free and really easy to use. You just plug in some numbers and it spits out a running schedule. Easy!
Now, onto my PSA…Did you know that you can actually get cash when you recycle your old cell phones? I recently upgraded (through Sprint) and a little mailing envelope was in the box with my new phone. It was postage paid and already addressed. It sat around my house for a few weeks…I really didn’t feel like clearing out the old phone. Little did I know, there was a website that you could log onto to check how much your will get you if you recycle it. Get this…my phone was worth $50!! Seriously. You bet I cleared that puppy out and mailed it off to Sprint! So, check with your cellphone provider and see if they recycle old phones. Their are also many sites (like this one) where you can get cold hard cash for your old phones. So go through those junk drawers!! Not only is it good for the environment, it is good for your wallet

Every kid loves having their parents swing them in the picnic blanket. I loved watching my girls giggle as they flew through the air…until I couldn’t feel my fingers anymore. This blanket has handles built in to the corners especially for swinging your little ones “higher & higher”. Pretty smart. There is nothing worse than losing all of the feeling in your fingers.

Road Trip!
I was lucky enough to accompany my girlfriend to Lula, Georgia this weekend to look at a sweet little Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. The King Cavalier is a breed of dogs that I was not that familiar with – I did remember that Charlotte in Sex and the City had King Cavalier puppies, and did know that they were really cute. What I learned from the owner (Holly) is that they are sweet, sweet dogs. She described their temperament as that of a Golden Retriever – and we all know how sweet Goldens are! They are very petite, she specialized in small King Cavaliers. The dogs were very calm and very loving. I don’t know if it is indicative of all King Cavaliers or if it is because they happen to have an amazing owner and facility. Seriously, this place was gorgeous…super clean & state of the art. Holly owns an amazing King Cavalier business as well as a Bed & Biscuit Inn. In fact, the dog that we looked at had just had a blueberry facial before we arrived. Heck, I would like to stay there too! She happens to have quite a glitzy clientele too…many celebrities and Braves players are proud owners of her dogs. She has flown with dogs to meet clients all over the country! Maybe the paparazzi should hang out in Lula to catch a few prize shots We looked at a little guy named Clarence (soon to be renamed Gibson ~maybe). I have a feeling we will be taking another road trip this weekend so my friend can officially adopt him….I can’t wait! Oh, and did I mention we passed by the outlet center on the way home and did some shopping? Perfect road trip! Here is a photo of aKing Cavalier…

I have been reading all of these articles lately on how to look younger. Of course I know that if I wear my 1989 Phi Mu Orange Crush t-shirt that will probably age me. But did you know that wearing a watch will actually make you look older? Apparently the younger generation relies on their cell phone for the time and wearing a watch just makes you look old and technologically challenged. Hmmm. I like watches.
