Fit Friday – Swimsuit.

Some swimsuits are made for sun bathing….I needed one that could play hard.  Hike up the waterfalls in Jamaica, lounge in the Hammock in Haiti, and kick butt on the FlowRider.  Yeah, I needed something that wasn’t dainty.  I found these great board shorts with built in swim bottoms inside of them at Macy’s.  They even have pockets!  I love them because they are still a swimsuit but give you all of the coverage of shorts.

swimNow, I wanted something super cute on the top…so I found this cute little Nautica top to go with my bottoms.  Mine is striped – all I could find online was a plaid one.  I like the striped one much better.  The striped one actually matches the shorts perfectly.  It has these cute little snaps on the front that give it a little va-va-voom when you want to :)

suitI’m so happy to finally have found a swimsuit that I really like…and is really functional.  Did you get your suit yet?

Tried it Tuesday – Paula Deen’s Recipe

Here in the South we love banana pudding!  Paula Deen’s Not Yo ‘ Mama’s Banana Pudding is awesome!  Super easy to make and a big crowd pleaser.  We made some for our Memorial Day Festivities and I thought I would share the recipe with you.  It seriously rocks.

Ingredients

  • 2 bags Pepperidge Farm Chessmen cookies
  • 6 to 8 bananas, sliced
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 (5-ounce) box instant French vanilla pudding
  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 (12-ounce) container frozen whipped topping thawed, or equal amount sweetened whipped cream

Directions

Line the bottom of a 13 by 9 by 2-inch dish with 1 bag of cookies and layer bananas on top.

In a bowl, combine the milk and pudding mix and blend well using a handheld electric mixer. Using another bowl, combine the cream cheese and condensed milk together and mix until smooth. Fold the whipped topping into the cream cheese mixture. Add the cream cheese mixture to the pudding mixture and stir until well blended. Pour the mixture over the cookies and bananas and cover with the remaining cookies. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

The gifts that rocked!

Here are two of the teacher gifts that really rocked this year…

Tervis Tumbler’s – what more can I say?  The BEST cup out there.  Have you seen the new options that they have now?  Cupcakes, flowers, martinis, and even cute little skull and crossbones.  Not to mention that they are guaranteed for life and keep your drink ice cold & very dry.  Love it!  I also love the lids and straws that go with them.

cupPizza – not just any pizza…one of my students brought me back a deep dish pie from my favorite spot in Chicago…Lou Malnati’s.  YUM!!!  This made me very happy :)

cupI also got a few gift cards that really rocked, super yummy smelly stuff from Bath & Body Works, and a monogrammed beach towel.  Lucky me!

Do you ever check out the FREE Single of the Week from iTunes?  This week it is Diane Birch’s song “Rise Up” and I really like it.  She has a jazzy vibe to her and sounds like an old soul…only she isn’t old at all.  Go listen…and if you like it you can download it for free:)

Essential items.

I have a few girlfriends that have been sucked into camping with the Girl Scouts.  Yikes!  Thank goodness their are no Girl Scouts in this family :)   But if I did have to camp I would take a few essential items…

This rechargeable blender would make perfect margaritas smoothies for the little scouts…

campThis little number would get all of my gear (and Winnie) to the campground safe and sound…

campWhy settle for an army green tent?  This would look cute with my cart parked outside of it!

campAnd I would save the day when I whip out my pocket fishing pole!

campAnd I wouldn’t forget my electric marshmallow toaster!

campFor all you Mom’s who head into the woods…I’m in awe…you rock!

The perfect little black dress.

I found it!  Not only is it on sale….it fits me perfectly!!  It is from the Simply Vera Wang collection at Kohl’s.  I love it because it can be casual with flops or dressy with some strappy heels.  If you have a Kohl’s charge you can use the code MAYTAKE30 to save 30% through tomorrow.  Original price – $68…price after sale & discount – $23.80.

dressThe gold party was a HUGE success!  One of my friends walked away with a check for $1,330!  Can you even believe it??  Probably one of the most fun parties that I have ever had – we all made money :)
