Speed Dating
We took Winnie to our local dog park yesterday to meet some new friends. She was quite the “player” and most definitely sniffed the most dog butts out of all of the canines. It reminded me of speed dating…they take a quick sniff and decide if it is true love. If not they move on to the next one. The funny thing is that her favorite dogs that she met were all dachshunds like her. I guess she is kinda snobby. The humans at the park crack me up – they act the same way as parents on the playground with their kids. Proud, braggy, and protective. Of course Winnie was all dolled up for her day at the park. Winnie loves new things and she joined us here to today to share a few picks with you….
She always wears her Bella Bean cupcake collar when she wants to impress. French pink of course.
She always knows that she is going somewhere when we pull out her Bowchies Bag. We call it her purse. We keep all of her traveling things in here – poo bags, collar, leash, travel water bowl. It even has room for my things too.
That travel water dish? Winnie has a red one. This is the one that she wishes she had.
And why not go for the matching food bag?
At the end of the day all Winnie wants to do is go home and play with her very favorite toy. Mr. Bobo. We have gone through so many of these – pink ones, Santa ones, giant ones, teeny ones…you name it, she destroyed it. In the picture above of her you can actually see some of poor Mr. Bobo’s stuffing sticking out of her mouth.
Happy Valentines Day!
My computer was on the fritz yesterday…so I don’t really have a post for you. I did read about this amazing lip gloss on Sasha’s site – it sounds really cool. Remember when you used to wear mood rings? This is mood lip gloss.

Let’s do the time warp again…
I am fascinated by FaceBook…all of the “blasts from the past” that you can find. It is so fun to see what everyone is up to. I have been reconnecting with lots of friends from High School and College. I haven’t seen any of my HS friends since my 10 year reunion (12 years ago) and FaceBook lets me see not only them, but their children too. It is so much fun! Today I found some 80′s inspired picks…
Yeah…there was definitely some partying going on
I don’t think I could actually party like a pop song from the 80′s anymore.
80′s inspired lip balm. Funny. I like the one with the roller skate on it. I loved skating at the rink in my tennis shoe skates. Good times.
This includes on of my all time favorite 80′s tunes – Turning Japanese.
I know. I’m old.

I (wish) I tried it Tuesday…
I kind of jumped the gun yesterday and essentially gave you a major “tried it Tuesday” on a Monday. I was so excited about all of the new things that I had tried over the weekend – I guess I couldn’t wait. Here are a few things that I wish I tried (but unfortunately, I don’t own them)….
I am lusting after this monogrammed clipboard. I have big dreams that include me sporting this clipboard in my arms looking cute & official.
These little apple pies look like something that I would like to try…
Inside this tiny(12″ x 10″) pouch is a full sized shopping trolley. Kind of like always having your own shopping cart on hand. I want to try it!!
I want all of the touchless products. To start I’ll take the iTouchless Trashcan. It just pops up when you need it to! Next I want the Touchless Toilet Flusher. Genius!
A great weekend to…
…try some new things! This past weekend was awesome…the weather was beautiful, sunny, and warm. I had a chance to try a few things that I wanted to share with you.
Saturday afternoon I had a 6 mile run on my schedule (yikes)! My running buddy and I could not go out together so I had to put my big girl panties on and do this one all by myself. I usually don’t run with my iPod – I like to be able to hear what is going on around me. Have you ever jumped when someone passes you on the sidewalk because you didn’t know they were behind you? I try hard enough to keep my heart rate down…I don’t need to be scared to death while I run! I decide to listen to a Podcast during this run. I have these new headphones called AirDrives. They sit outside of your ear and allow you to hear the noises around you while listening to your Ipod. They were perfect for me! I could hear the traffic and people but still get great sound from your Ipod. You could even carry on a conversation while wearing these. They make them for kids too – you know how easy it is for kids to damage their ears from loud music. Not only do they solve all of my “sound” problems, they are really comfortable too. I can’t stand using earbuds that I have to stick in my ear…these just go around my ear. The sound goes through your ear…it is very high tech! You can adjust the volume with a dial on the cord and they come in lots of yummy colors (mine are pink of course). I love them!
On Saturday night my family did a mystery shop at LongHorn Steakhouse. This is a really fun way to eat out without the expense of the entire meal. Riley was really into the questionnaire we had to fill out – she was a big help! If you are interested in becoming a secret shopper go here and check it out.
Sunday morning we made waffles with Batter Blaster. This is organic pancake/waffle batter that comes in a pressurized can. You just point and shoot the batter onto your griddle. They are really yummy (and super easy to make)! I bought ours at Publix and I know Costco sells it too.
After our Waffles we went for a hike up the mountain. I have had a pair of Vasque Aether Tech trail shoes that I have wanted to try out. The weather has been so cold that I haven’t been on a trail in a while. The coolest thing about these shoes is the Boa Lacing System. It is a dial that you turn to tighten the laces – this provides snugness throughout the entire shoe but the elastic laces give a little as you move. I like it because you don’t have laces that will collect leaves and debris while you are out on the trail. Plus, you never have to stop to tighten your laces….once you turn that dial it stays. This shoe acts like a hiker but feels like a running shoe. It is lightweight and very supportive. The traction they provided was awesome! I didn’t slip down the mountain like I usually do! Runner’s World magazine actually voted them as one of the best debut shoes in October 2008. If you like to hike outdoors you really should own a pair of trail shoes – they are much better than your typical sneaker. You will avoid injury if you have a good pair of trail shoes on. My Vasque’s look good enough to wear off of the trail too! I love it…style & function
I met a really nice lady on the mountain that tried to give me her dog – Jan, if you are reading this now I am still thinking about it
And the great running skirt that I was talking about is this one…
So….how was your weekend?
Next week…
…is Valentine’s day!!! I love this special day for many reasons – I love the color pink, I like holiday’s that are not completely centered around a huge quantity of gifts, and I love telling my family how much they mean to me. Here are a few gift ideas to get you started…
Conversation Heart Cookies
How about warming up with some smores (made in your microwave)?
I won!
One of things that I love most about my blog is when I get to giveaway stuff – it is so fun! I have been lucky enough to actually have won 3 prizes from other peoples blogs myself. Here is a giveaway that I entered yesterday (wish me luck)! I saw this book on Oprah and thought it was amazing…go enter…I hope one of us wins!
This book from Chic Runner:

Chic Runner is a fun read…although I am a little jealous of all of the warm weather running that she gets to do in sunny California! I am currently training for another half marathon and have been chained to the dreadmill this week. I would much rather run outside! When I do go to the gym I have found the most amazing bag to take with me. It is called the Fitness Caddy and was the brain child of a mom who goes to the gym regularly. It is a slender tote and water bottle holder that even comes with a cooler sleeve for your water bottle (this keeps it very cold & it won’t get everything all wet and drippy). There is a metal ring on the side to hold your towel and a key clip on the other side to keep your car keys secure. It also has three great pockets – one pleated deep pocket that closes, one elastic back pouch (great for your cellphone), and a hidden interior pocket. These pockets are important because you should never ever leave your valuables in your car while you workout. All of the above hangs from an adjustable strap – it will fit everyone! I love having this bag to take to the gym with me…I have even received a few compliments on it! It really is a genius product. Lightweight, well made, and meets all of my needs. Perfect.

Tried it Tuesday – Pico Arm Chair
One of my favorite things to do is to watch Riley play soccer. One of my least favorite things to do is to put our “soccer chair” back in the teeny tiny tube that it is supposed to fit into. Our season starts back again this month and I was determined to find a better chair. Enter the Pico Arm Chair! This has to be one of my best finds yet. The chair starts out in a messenger bag. Not an oversized messenger bag…a normal one. It weighs only 9 pounds and is so easy to carry…plus there are a ton of pockets in the messenger bag to carry other things. The bag is really sturdy…not that flimsy stuff my old chair was stored in. Every other sport chair I have owned had a ripped storage bag after the 2nd use. So you are probably thinking that the Pico Chair is a smaller version of a fold up chair, right? WRONG. Out of the messenger bag comes a full sized directors chair that is really comfortable. The seats are made out of this really strong mesh that allows your backside to breathe – that’s pretty important. It is very comfortable to sit in. My kids actually have been using it to play video games in front of the television (ok, I’m not going to let that go on much longer)! It is far better than my previous sports chairs. It has a drink holder on one arm and a pocket for keys/cellphone on the other arm. The messenger bag hooks on the back of the chair to hold all of your other essentials. The chair has these unique “telescoping” aluminum legs that make it really easy to get it in and out of the bag. I’m really excited to start another season of soccer this month…and I’m even more excited that I will never ever fight with a chair again. The Pico Chair is light, easy to carry, comfortable and will never fight with you when you put it away.
