Madison
I was watching Martha Stewart yesterday and she did a whole show about babies. Well, I only watched the for a few minutes…she kind of offended me. She was talking about baby names and stated that she didn’t like the name Madison. I know, everyone has a right to their own opinion…but did she have to say it on national tv? How sad for all of the Madison’s out there (and their moms). That is the only name that was said that she didn’t like. So, I am writing today all about MADISON. This is for all of the Madison’s out there! Especially my Madison.
- The Oka B Madison Slide – Oka’s are one of my favorite brands of shoes. Cute, comfy, low priced…how awesome is that?
- Coach Madison Nappa Watch – Another one of my favorite brands. This is a great classic watch.
- Madison Fur Dog Coat – Oh, pink plaid and fur & rinestones…I love it! I better not let Winnie see this…
- The Madison Marcus Ruffle Dress – Cute!
So there…everyone who is a Maddie, Madison…or any other name that Martha may not like…I like your name.
Radio Thursday…Great Gadgets!
Who doesn’t like a great gadget. My husband is the king of gadgets…so I had him help me out with this segment.
- Zeno – An electronic Zit Zapper!! This is amazing. You simply heat up the Zeno (it will beep when it is ready) and hold it on your zit until it beeps again (for 2 1/2 minutes). It is portable, rechargeable, and each zit only takes 2-3 treatments. And guess what…It doesn’t hurt at all! This is great for those occasional zits that really hurt.
- Car MD – Checks the health of your car! Hear a strange noise? Did one of the “lights” come on? Want to make sure your mechanic is being honest? Plug up the CarMD…let it do its thing. After CarMD diagnoses your problem you can log on to their site to lookup repairs needed and cost estimates. For only $90 this could save you hundreds at the shop!
- Simple Human Soap Dispenser – Does the soap in your bathroom get pretty yucky? Not at my house! We have a Simple Human sensor soap pump in our bathroom. Simply hold your hand under the sensor to dispense the right amount of soap in your hand. No cross contamination or icky gooey soap bottles. Genius!
- TweezLight – Professional lighted tweezers! Another genius invention! These really allow you to see every hair, splinter, or who knows what! I find them invaluable when getting splinters out of my kids. It’s like a spotlight right where you need it. Awesome!
- Suunto GPS Watch – I can’t even begin to tell you all of the amazing things that this watch will do for you! I have the X9i and have to fight my husband for it everyday! This watch is actually a computer that will not only give you the essential navigation tools (route planning, speed and distance, track back) it also includes and electronic compass, altimeter (it will even give you a ski run calculator), weather station (barometer and temp), and much more! You can even view your hike on Google Earth. I use it when I am running or walking. It tells me how far I have gone and what my pace is. My husband likes to take it into the woods when hunting – I like that he won’t get lost, it will always lead him back to his start point. While researching the X9i I visited many of the message boards that talk about this product…let me tell you, many of our soldiers are wearing this exact watch. It is super easy to install the software on your computer and hook the watch up – learning all of the functions can be a little tricky…just be patient with yourself! This would make a great gift for anyone who enjoys outdoor activities.
- KangaRooM Storage - What to do with all of those devices that need charging? In our house we have our 3 cellphones, 2 PDA’s, 2 iPods, 1 bluetooth….and on & on! I don’t want chargers and plugs all over the place so I use a charging station by KangaRooM. I love the wall mount version. It hides away the cords and a powerstrip behind it’s secret door. Your cell phone fits in a little slot on the top. I also like the desktop version. This one is a little more upscale..it is made out of faux leather, comes in your choice of three colors, and has space to charge two devices at once.
- Socket Pocket – This nifty little screws on to your outlet cover and provides a pocket to store your device while it is charging. They come in packs of two for only $10.00. What a simple way to coral the cord mess!
- Chi Flat Iron – I have always looked at the Chi Flat Irons in my salon and wondered why they are so expensive! Could they really be that great? Well, the nice folks at Chi let me test out my theory….YES…they are that good!! Really. I love it! They heat up fast, straighten fast….I love it

Swimming.
My friend Michelle and I like to swim laps at the aquatic center. This weekend she paid a pretty penny to get her hair colored and didn’t want to mess it all up with the chlorine. We set out to find a solution to her problem. Swim Cap? Product? Our first stop was Sports Authority where we tried on just about every swim cap that they make. We decided that red was not a good look (after I peed my pants looking at her in one)…well, really none of them were a good look – at least while you are standing fully clothed in a store. She decided on a pretty cheap silicone cap. The Lycra one was much nicer but didn’t seem like it would keep the water off of her hair. So on Sunday morning Michelle wrestled her hair into her silicone (aka rubber) cap and jumped in the pool for her laps. It actually looked better on her when she was in an actual pool environment! After our laps she pulled her cap off…..and all of her hair was wet! What the….???? Okay, I was a little disappointed in the whole swim cap debacle. Are they just supposed to make you swim faster? So Michelle, I have done some research and found some solutions to your problem.
- Wet your hair before getting into the pool. Hair absorbs water…let it absorb un-chlorinated water first.
- Put Leonor Greyl Palm Oil Potion on your hair before swimming. It acts like an oil slick and keeps the chlorine out of your hair. I wonder if Wesson oil would have the same affect?
- L’Oreal makes this fancy stuff to put in your hair to protect against chlorine damage.
- This stuff is supposed to work too.
- You could try a different kind of swim cap. This one might work better.
- Or this pretty one…
- Try wearing a suit that really covers you up.
Does anyone else have any advice for Michelle? I’m no good…back when I was on the swim team I just suffered through the summer with green hair. Oh yeah…I found this nifty little lap counter for swimmers. It goes on your finger like a ring. I can never remember how many laps I swim. This is cool!
Or…look at these super cool bags that can hold your wet swimsuit.
Oh, this kickboard is way cuter than the blue ones that they have at the Aquatic Center.
Oops. Sorry I got a little sidetracked. I hope I helped Michelle!!
Bring it on!
Here I am Fall. I’m waiting patiently for your cool crisp weather. I want to bake apple pies, wear my jeans, and be chilly in the morning. I want to decorate my house for you…switch out the lemons for apples, change the wreath, etc. I’m waiting…….
These Fall Leaf Soaps are so pretty and dainty. How pretty they would look in my powder room.
I love putting out my Fall placemats…it changes the whole kitchen!
Oh…someone please buy me these cute plates! Please?
This sure screams Fall. I love this lamp.
This would warm things up on the back deck.
Falling Leaf Garden Stakes….love ‘em!!
So if your are listening Fall…I’m ready.
Thank you Santa.
The best thing that Santa ever brought me..ahem..my girls was SingStar for our PS2. This game is awesome! Its not like ordinary Karaoke…it actually plays the real video of the song. It also measures pitch, tone, and rhythm to score your performance. The competition can get fierce! It has a ton of different modes..you can battle, sing together, or all alone (you know…when your kids are in school). I love to get a group of girls over to sing…it is great to have kids and adults enjoying the same game. They are a little slow to get new versions out – there are 4 out right now. I really want the new 80′s one! Think about it…Tainted Love, We’re not gonna take it? Check out their site…you can really see how it works. They also have another new one out called Amped. It includes Pearl Jam, Fallout Boy, David Bowie, Nirvana and much more. Put these on my Christmas list! Of course the first two releases are great too. Riley loves singing RESPECT and Maddie can belt out any ballad with a super high score. The house favorite seems to be Sweet Home Alabama. This is an awesome game – it brings so many people together. So tonight girls…game on! I’m cooking up some party food…come over and sing with me!
Radio Thursday – Name it!
It’s no secret I like monograms. I know you guys do too. I found some really cool products that go way above and beyond your standard monogram.
- Sticks & Stones – Brad and Jera Deal used to go “letter hunting” with their children. They would snap photos of anything they saw that looked like a letter. Fences, trees, buildings, and more. Jera had the amazing idea to create a gift out of their letter finds. She spelled out her daughter’s teacher in black and white letters. The result was amazing! What a great piece of art. You type in your name and simply pick from the different styles of letters. I had a great time creating mine. I can’t even begin to count the number of compliments that I get on this unique piece of art. This is a great idea for a gift – especially a wedding gift! Look closely at the picture below…it spells out FAMILY.
- GG Bailey Car Mats – Did I say car mats? What I meant to say was car couture. Monogrammed Car Mats! I am in heaven. You tell them what make/style of car you have, what colors you want, and your initial….presto…they will make you a set of custom mats. Their are so many options to choose from…you pick the carpet color, edge style, and monogram color. I like to call it “Prep My Ride”
- Monogrammed insulated Party Tub from Invite Cottage – Are you ready for Fall tailgates? Bring this insulated tub to your next gathering…everyone will know it is yours! It features a bottle/can opener, leak proof vinyl liner, and a front pocket. But best of all, your name is on it. Available in Black, Red, or Green. I have the green one…it is not only super cute, but it is really easy to fill & carry…and no one will drink my Ultra!!
- Blume – Personalized hats, undies, and shirts for the whole family. What makes Blume so unique is that she uses a “uniform” style patch to personalize each piece. You choose what you want the patch to say and if you want a little bling on in. I had a hat made with my last name on the patch…and some bikini’s with my husbands name on them {blush}. For my buddy Cooper (who is 3) I picked up a cute little tee.
- Girly-Twirly Monogrammed Coasters – Cute, cute, cute! Monogrammed Acrylic Coasters. You pick the fabric & the color. These make a great gift – they come wrapped in cellophane and tied with a pretty bow. I use mine when I have the girls over for a little karaoke!
- Logan & Blue Monogrammed Shirts – A celebrity favorite! Their tees either come with a custom monogram or a custom saying. You choose. You can buy for women, kids, toddlers, or babies. They have a ton of fun sayings on their site…or create your own! My favorite is “My Kids Rock”. Can’t decide on a saying? Monogram it! Create one today!
- PlanetMom T-shirts & undies - Another great find for personalized shirts and underwear! I ordered Caddy a pair of boxer briefs with “property of Donna” embroidered on them! Or how about another great saying? “Whine? No. Wine? Yes.” “PTA Reject”. Funny! Again, super cute fun shirts with or without a name on them!

New Things…at least for me!
I found some new things…things that I think I would like to have (shocker).
- Dash & Albert Rugs – The Rain or Shine rug is not only super looking, it is color-fast and weather wise too! You can even bleach it if it gets dirty. I need one of these under my kitchen table…oh and out on my deck…how about the door going out to the garage…you know I could go on forever.
