New products!

I’ve seen bunches of new products out in the stores lately. I wanted to share them with you.

  • Ben & Jerry’s new Willie Nelson’s Peach Cobbler Ice cream. The proceeds will benefit FarmAid. Yummy & philanthropic! I guess I will be “on the road again” to my Publix to try it out.

  • The Today Sponge – Yes Elaine…it’s back! Do you remember the “sponge-worthy” episode of Seinfeld when Elaine panicked at the news that the Today Sponge had been discontinued? Definitely one of my favorite episodes (I also loved “the bet”)! It seems that the company has finally met all of the FDA guidelines and they are back on the shelves.

  • Stash Powdered Green Tea – Just add cold water and stir…no need to brew up this cup of antioxidant rich drink. It actually is supposed to be better for you than brewed green tea because you consume the entire tea leaf. They do advise you to stir/shake well before drinking.

  • Oxiclean Baby Stain Remover – The same OxiClean stain fighting..but in a convenient spray. Plus, it won’t leave nasty chemicals on the clothing that will irritate your baby’s sensitive skin. I can’t wait to see the infomercial on this – a bunch of little babies spitting up all over Billy Mays!

Things I can’t buy…but wish I could.

Here is my fantasy wish list. To bad I can’t buy anything on it.

  1. The ability to wink
  2. To have a super cool mix of girl/guy friends that you can just walk into their house anytime you want…you know, like on Friends or Seinfeld. Or how about the interns on Grey’s Anatomy…I love how they are just friends that eat ice cream in bed together. I’m sure I just creeped out all of my friends – don’t worry I won’t invite you over to eat ice cream in bed!
  3. A love of mushrooms
  4. Longer legs
  5. The ability to fall asleep and wake up just like dogs. They make it look so easy, they never toss and turn to go to sleep and they always spring right up in the morning!
  6. The ability to never have to pee in a public toilet again.
  7. An alarm clock that actually turns back time when you hit the snooze button.
  8. To have my parents live closer to me.. at least a much shorter drive…ideally right down the road.
  9. For Winnie to be able to give me advice when I come to her with my problems – hmmm…that would mean she could talk…which would mean that she could share all of my deep dark secrets/thoughts/feelings. Lets just let her stick to listening.
  10. For a full time workweek to be considered 20 hours. How about 10-2 each day?
  11. The ability to tan…not burn or freckle.

What do you think?

Every now and then I come across some products that I am just not to sure about. I am going to turn to you and ask…What do you think?

Does a bald baby girl really need to wear a bow? Would you feel comfortable gluing a bow on your baby’s head? InfantBows has designed a bow for babies with no hair. They have a “special” glue that you use to apply the bow to the bald head. My girls were pretty bald for a while…I honestly never thought of sticking a bow to their little heads. It doesn’t look like the model is enjoying the bow.

Are you interested in other people’s grocery lists? If so, you would love the book titled Milk, Eggs, Vodka. It is a collection of found grocery lists. I don’t know if I would read it as a novel…I might just rip out a page every time I head out to the grocery store. What a time saver :) . Hmmm…What do you think?

book.jpg

This is funny. An “I love NY” snow globe with aminiature garbage bag floating around in it. I don’t know what you think, but I find it funny.

snow.gif

Why do we always have to {heart} something. Can’t we just stomach it?

la.gif

What do you think about average citizens buying and using stun guns? I can’t imagine packing this kind of heat while out shopping. I’m not even sure if it is legal. I happen to know that one of my viewers is a police officer – maybe she could give us the 411. I would love to know what she thinks!

Is gold really coming back as the hip metal of choice? Am I going to have to change all of my hardware in my house again? Please tell me it isn’t so!!!

So…what do you think?

Radio Thursday – Great Kitchen Gear

Cooking. Whether you love it or hate it we all have to do it. Personally I love to cook…I put together some fun cooking tools for you!

  • Silver Mark – This company makes the most ingenious kitchen tools! In fact, I’m sure you have seen a few of their products while shopping in Crate & Barrel, Bed Bath & Beyond, JC Penny’s, Williams Sonoma and more. I was originally drawn to them when I saw the Toss & Chop. This unique tool is designed to quickly chop salads, vegetables, fruit and more right in your salad bowl! No messy cutting boards! This is an easy and fun way to make a salad. It costs $19.99 which is less that a set of fancy knives. While checking out the Toss & Chop I was completely intrigued by all of their products…I had to try a few more. The Herb Snips are super cool. We have an herb garden in our yard and use the Herb Snips not only for cutting the herbs from the plant but also to mince them while cooking. This is a great job for a child to help out with! Another great find from Silver Mark is the Grater Tongs. They have combined two kitchen tools into one. Again, why dirty two tools when you can just use this? They are great for garnishing your finished dish.

  • Blender Bottle – Mix, pour, and store all in the same bottle! This product has quickly become a favorite in our house. What makes it so unique is the patented wire blender ball in the bottle – it works like a supercharged whisk. We use it to mix up our scrambled eggs. The lid is super tight, it blends perfectly, and pours with ease. Its great for protein shakes, batter, salad dressing, and more. The whisk works so great that you can actually whip cream just by shaking the blender bottle for a few minutes.

  • Spin ‘n Stor – We all know that we should be washing our greens for salads. Personally, I don’t have room to store a salad spinner…and you can never get your lettuce dry without one. Or can you? Thanks to Spin’ n Stor you can! This is simply an oversized plastic bag that you place your washed greens in and spin it around (it really is quite fun). Centrifugal force actually makes the water fly off of the produce and collects it in a reservoir on the bottom of the bag. Now just pour the water out and eat your crunch, clean, dry salad. You can even use the bag to store your leftover salad in. You can dry the bags out and use them over and over again! Its easy…spin, drain, and store. You can pick up 12 bags for only $11.75 with free shipping.

  • Prodyne Automatic Sugar Dispenser – I can’t stand messy sugar bowls. I also cringe when I see my kids put a giant spoonful of sugar on their strawberries. Now I store my sugar in theProdyne Automatic Sugar Dispenser. With the push of a button it dispenses exactly 1/2 tsp. of sugar. It is great for cereal, coffee, or even baking. It hides a nifty funnel to make for easy and mess free refills. Retails for $12.99

pro.jpg

  • Pump & Pour- This nifty tool keeps your liter soda bottles from going flat. You pump the top to restore pressure to your liter bottles. When you want to refill your glass simply flip open the top. For only $2.99 you will never have to drink flat soda again! I also love the Can pump & pour. The same concept except it works for canned drinks. What a great idea!

  • Simple Memory Smart Art Kitchen Towels- Everyone has a tea towel in their kitchen…I have one that I can use for more than drying dishes. The Get Smart towels from Simple Memory Art all have useful kitchen information on them. Kinda like a “cheat sheet” for the kitchen – only they look super hip and cool! Need to know how many tablespoons are in one cup? Look at your towel. Wondering how to store fresh Sage? Look at your towel. For $18 you get two super informative and generously sized kitchen towels.

towel.jpg

  • Galison Recipe Journal - Cute, splatterproof, and organized. What more could a cook want? This recipe journal let you customize the dividers yourself, comes with vinyl sleeves to protect your heirloom recipes, and will have your old recipe file organized in no time. I actually had a great time going through my recipes and putting them in the journal. This would make a great gift for someone…start early for Christmas!

When you have an announcement to make.

Riley came home from her first day of school yesterday and announced that her teacher and his wife are expecting their first child any day now. When my girls were born my husband brewed a batch of his homemade beer and made custom birth announcements for the labels. It was a really fun favor to give to all of the visitors that stopped by to welcome them into the world. Well, thats been a while…I found some of the most interesting baby announcements out there.

  • Rattle -N-Roll – Welcome your new addition into the world rock star style! Just send them a head shot and they will do the rest. You can even get a poster made!

birth.jpg

  • 5 Star Baby – Here you can give your baby the red carpet welcome…via their very own movie poster! This is really cool.

  • Custom Soda – Celebrate with your own flavor! You create the label too.

Back to School!

backtoschool.jpg

Today is the big day…back to school! This is always a tough day for me…I really miss the girls when they are gone. It will be fun to hear all of the exciting stories when they get off the bus this afternoon. I’m sure we will have to make a few more school supply runs…I hope Target has restocked – they looked a little sad the last few times I was in there. School supplies are always fun…

I love highlighters! Especially the Sharpie mini pack.

high.jpg

My all time favorite binders are from Russell & Hazel. You can put together an incredible binder…I have one that I use for work and loooove it.

Another great find…the staple free stapler. These are great. I use mine all of the time.

Bring back any memories? Mr. Sketch are the best!

Wouldn’t this USB beverage chiller be great for a teacher?

I am a paid author!

A few months ago I stumbled across a site called Daytipper. This site has tips in many different categories. What is so cool about the site is that all of the tips are submitted by people like you and me. What is even cooler is that they pay $3 for every tip that they publish! So I submitted a tip for a pain free way to remove splinters…that was a few months ago…they just informed me that my tip was going to be published on August 17th. Yay for me! You can choose to receive your $3 in the form of a check, in a credit to your PayPal account, or donate it to charity. I know you guys have a ton of great ideas…turn your ideas into cash and share them with the world.

Update: My post is on the site…and I had three more tips approved :)
