Dominoes
Our family discovered dominoes in Blue Ridge while visiting Mike’s Uncle last year. I had never played before. He taught us to play Mexican Train Dominoes. Let me tell you, this is a super fun game. Kids and adults can play together too. Here are some really cool sets of Dominoes (along with the basic Mexican Train Dominoes).
Give the game a try, its really fun. You might get addicted!
Did you Barbecue?
Yesterday was Father’s Day…Did you barbecue? We sure did! We did some big giant steaks with Bearnaise sauce and grilled veggies – Yum-O! We also stocked dad up with the best grill gadgets around.
A must have for every grill…the digital remote thermometer. That way you can go back to your socializing and still be alerted when the meat is just the way you like it!

You know how I am about monograms – loooove them! Why shouldn’t my steaks be monogrammed too? Well, they can with the monogram med steak brander.

I can’t believe that this service exists…and I never new about it. You can text Google (466453) the name, city & state of somewhere and they will text you back the address and phone number! And you don’t have the pay the buck-forty-five or whatever it would be to call Information!
It doesn’t stop there! You can text Google for a weather report, flight updates, sports scores–you can even text google to find out when Abraham Lincoln’s birthday is, for definition of words, currency conversions, and driving directions! What have I learned?
As many of you know, I have spent this week working the Vacation Bible School at my Church. The theme was a water park adventure! We taught the children 5 basic bible points…and I have translated them into shopping for you.
Day one – Plunge into obedience! This one can be very tricky when shopping. For instance, if you buy something that offers a rebate – SEND IT IN! Have you ever forgot (or got really, really lazy)? You also must check your regular sites often for sales…or you can just check my site often. Be an obedient shopper. Here is a rebate for you to try:
I know, you see so many ads for free cell phones. This one is different. If you have been thinking about getting you or your kids a prepaid phone…this is the way to go! For instance, Victoria’s Secret is very good to their customers. I always receive notices about sales & they send me coupons for free panties! They are having their semi-annual big sale right now. What brand do you Worship?
Day three – Plunge into Courage! Do you have the courage to try something new? I am always trying new things. Some people have more fashion courage than others. Have you seen the high waisted pants out there? Scarlett Johansson sure did exhibit a lot of courage to wear them!
Day four – Plunge into Faith! Do you sign up for stores frequent shoppers cards? They will actually reward you for being faithful to their store! For every $100 you spend at Kroger you will receive a 10 cent discount at the gas pump. Many stores will pay you for your faithfulness to their store!
Day five – Plunge into Service! How many companies do you shop at that give back to the community? Some of your favorite charities actually have their own store online. Check out the Breast Cancer Site. I found this cute pink indoor potting set for only $12.95 and the best part is that 1% of a mammogram will be funded when I buy this. They have a ton of stuff on this site…check it out!
Radio Thursday – Dogs
Its no secret that I am a dog lover! I have rescued more than my share of precious dogs. Currently I have a 7lb miniature dachshund (Winnie) and a 60lb lab/retriever mix(Cindy). That means that I am always on the lookout for stylish & useful dog items. Look at what I found:
Bowchies – I take Winnie on lots & lots of outings with me. She loves to go to soccer games! The Bowchies Dog Walker Bag has proven invaluable to me. My favorite item is the hats that are made especially for dog lovers! They are ultra stylish & cute! The colors are amazing and the sayings on the hats are even better – Sleeps With Dogs, Grrrr, Mutt, etc. I had to have the pink & green one for myself! The clothing line is awesome too. They offer tanks, tees, and dresses that you would be proud to wear. Don’t worry – they also have something for dogs…Floor Mats. I have the red coat of arms mat and Cindy loves to lay on it while I cook in the kitchen. The best thing about Barkology is that a portion of their proceeds benefits a giant list of dog related charities. How cool is that? You can show your love of dogs & support your favorite charity at the same time!
Muttropolis – Want to have the best dressed dog in town? Visit Muttropolis for your high style doggy needs. They have all sorts of dog items. I love their selection of collars – a great way for you to show off your dogs personality. Winnie sports the pink cupcake collar. At $37, some people may think they are to expensive…but they are really well made and your dog will wear it everyday.

Take a Shot at it
I was getting my nail done the other day and I noticed a collection of various shot glasses arranged on a shelf (I know, very classy). She had glasses from just about any vacation destination that you can think of. Do you remember back in college…you had to own at least one super cool shot glass. Mine was from The Hard Rock Cafe. I found some grown up shot glasses that you don’t have to get from the souvenir shop on the beach.
- Ice Shot Glasses – You fill the molds with water and make your own ice sculpture shot glasses. At least you won’t have any dishes to do after your big party! They would probably be yummy with some Vodka in them.
- Writers Shot Glasses – Show how grown up you have become…you can drink your tequila out of glasses with famous writers & quotes on them.
- Shot Luge – No sophistication here…just competition. Race your shot glass down an icy luge!
- Pool Game Shot Glass Set – This might look nice in your pool room.
- Collapsible keychain shotglass – Okay, this one is for the young & wild…you will always have it with you.
Thats enough about shot glasses…I don’t even like shots. The only kind that do enjoy are lemon drops (maybe its cuz they taste like candy). Here is the recipe:
Lemon Drop shots are similar to Tequila shots. It is more about the process than actually mixing anything together. The lemon and sugar give this shot the real sour kick you’d expect from the name. You can also try the Lemon Drop Martini.
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 1/2 oz vodka
- lemon wedge
- sugar
PREPARATION:
- Pour vodka into a shot glass.
- Coat a lemon wedge with sugar.
- Drink the shot of vodka.
- Follow up immediately with a bite into the sugary lemon.
Alternatively, coat the inside of a shot glass with lemon juice and pour sugar on top of the liquid.
